Fort Wayne, IN: The man police said was involved in a fatal early morning shooting that led to a hostage situation on Wednesday had served time in prison for dealing drugs and for possessing a firearm as a serious violent felon. Jacqueline Bouvier Hardy, 49, had recently obtained a protective order against Kenneth Knight, 45, according to a press release issued by Public Information Officer Raquel Foster. Marlin Lavoie of Molokai is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 24-year-old Malia Kahalewai in Molokai. Fort Worth, TX: Police say they suspect a man fatally shot the mother of his child and then shot and wounded himself Wednesday night. Officers were dispatched to a reported shooting about 9:20 p.m. at the Prima Vera Apartments, 2201 E. Berry St., said Officer Sharron Neal, a police spokeswoman. When they arrived two minutes later, they discovered a 23-year-old woman dead in the courtyard from an apparent gunshot wound. Panama City, FL: The victim of a broad daylight shooting at the 23rd Street Plaza on Tuesday has been declared clinically dead but remained on life support late Thursday. Megan Pettis, 24, of Panama City Beach, was on life support to facilitate organ donation, according to the Panama City Police Department. She was shot in the head and crashed a car around 1 p.m. Tuesday. Birmingham, AL: A mother and a child were found dead inside their Jefferson County apartment this morning and a second child was airlifted to Children's of Alabama hospital with critical injuries. Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Randy Christian said all three victims had been shot. He said preliminary information indicated the deaths might be related to a man found dead on a Fairfield roadside early this morning. Family and friends at the scene of The Park at Rocky Ridge apartment complex in Jefferson County identified the woman as Tiffany Bozeman, 30, and the girl as Gabrielle Menefee. Roberto Armando Guillen, 59, and Karla Ramirez, 28 were found dead inside a home at 10 Nealtown Way in the Nealtown Meadows community off Huffine Mill Road around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday. On Thursday, police said the results of medical examinations performed on the couple indicate the deaths were the result of murder and suicide. Terry Culberson was charged Wednesday with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. The victim's mother and Baltimore County Police agree that they knew the man who has now been charged in connection with that murder was a threat. They don't agree on whether everything possible was done to stop it.
