Joplin, MO: Joplin police are investigating a shooting Saturday night that left a woman dead and her estranged husband in critical condition. Police said officers responding to a report of a shooting at 10:20 p.m. found 36-year-old Monica Webb in a home at 3415 E. 15th St., a victim of a gunshot wound. Brooklyn Heights, MO: A two year old and four year old have been injured after a shotgun discharged at a home in the Brooklyn Heights, Missouri area. According to Jasper County Sheriff Office around 11:20 a.m. today they received a phone call from McCune Brooks Hospital that they were preparing for a gunshot victim. Vigil Held for Essence Willoughby, Supporters Take Stand Against Domestic Violence
Wearing purple and carrying candles, those who knew and loved Essence Willoughby honored her Saturday by organizing a prayer vigil. The young mother was found murdered earlier this week. A huge crowd turned out Saturday for a candlelight vigil and group prayer for 21-year-old Willoughby. Her family said it's this kind of show of support that's helped them carry on since her death. Decatur, IL: In a groundbreaking decision for Illinois, the murder verdict against William Richter has been upheld by a unanimous decision of the Fourth District Appellate Court. In 2010, Richter was convicted of killing his former longtime girlfriend, 43-year-old Dawn Marquis. Brookfield, WI: Four weeks after she was killed in a deadly rampage at a Brookfield salon, Zina Haughton was remembered Sunday as a brave and loving woman who lived for her daughters and exuded a joy that belied the turmoil in her marriage. "All she ever wanted was to be a mom and raise her children," Haughton's brother, Elvin Daniel, told the more than 100 mourners who had gathered for a memorial service Sunday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Milwaukee. Winnsboro, NC: A man was arrested Thursday and charged with attempted murder in the shooting of his wife while he was a police officer in a South Carolina town. The incident happened about two weeks ago and involved Michael Bernard Roseboro, a Winnsboro policeman, and his estranged wife, SLED officials said. When the incident first happened, deputies first said that Roseboro, 43, was traveling in his patrol car when he shot his wife from his vehicle as she stood on the sidewalk. Police say Robert Levine, 46, may have tried to kill Vick before turning the gun on himself.
