Garner, NC: Garner police have charged a man with murder in the Sunday night shooting of a woman at her home. Officers responded around 10:45 p.m. to a domestic violence call at 827-D Delta St., where they found Latasha Renee Pierce, 36, shot in the head. She was taken to WakeMed, where she died early Monday. Winston Lewis, 35, of Garner, was taken into custody Sunday night and later charged in the case. » more at WRAL.com

Texarkana, TX: Texarkana, Texas Police are investigating the city's first homicide of the year. The crime occurred over the weekend, and police say it is a result of domestic violence. Police say Lela Cason, 26, and Daniel Bourg, 31, were together as a couple for nine years, but that relationship ended on Sunday. The two were found dead inside their home from apparent gunshot wounds. Oakley, UT: An Oakley couple who died Sunday in an apparent murder-suicide had been together for about 10 years, a family member said, but recently ended their engagement. Summit County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ron Bridge said Sean Thomas Kenealey, 45, and his 40-year-old girlfriend, Toni Lyn Cavagnaro, both of Oakley, were found dead with gunshots in the head. Troopers from the Buena Vista barracks were called to the home of Darrin Plumlee, 43, on Lenape Terrace around 8 a.m. Friday. Topeka, KS: Shawnee County District Attorney Chad Taylor and Topeka Police Chief Ron Miller Wednesday released new information in Friday's double-murder and suicide case. Police responded to a home at 712 SW Jewell just before 9:20 p.m. Friday where three people were found dead. When police arrived on scene they entered the home and found Shawna Solis, 36, Antwan Muhammad, 40, and Howard Givens, 37, with gunshot wounds. All three were pronounced dead at the scene. Bourbon County, KY: A mother and her 5-year-old daughter whose bodies were found after a house fire last week in rural southeastern Kansas died from gunshot wounds, victims of a double murder-suicide, authorities said Monday. The woman’s husband was found in a vehicle outside the home, dead of a self-inflicted injury. The Bourbon County Sheriff’s office said in a news release that autopsies determined 30-year-old Terry Lynn Prestley and her daughter died from gunshot wounds. Crystal Gene Lopez, 28, was found safe Thursday morning when she walked into the Corona Police Department, officials said. According to authorities, Lopez had been unreachable following the murder of her mother, 55-year-old Katherine Aguirre, on Wednesday. Hoover told dispatchers her husband had shot the couple's adult son, also named Charles Hoover. That was the last time Marcia Hoover would talk to the police. It happened on Redman Lake Drive off Hoo Shoo Too Road in Baton Rouge a little before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Neighbors in the area say it is not unusual to hear gunshots there. But seeing sheriff's deputies is not normal. "Police were flying down the road, so I knew something had happened. When I came out and looked down that way I knew something had happened to my neighbor," said Wanda Seymour.
